About Us

Started in the Fall of 2015, the Central Illinois Slot Series aimed to bring together some of the best, and newest, 1/24th scale slot car racers around! Founded by Curt Vincent and Bobby Yonkee, CISS has quickly grown into a fun and very competitive traveling slot car series. In the 3rd Annual series, Jeff Strause stepped up to take the reigns and guide the series as other commitments hindered the other founders. A huge thanks goes out to Mr. Strause for all he has done.

It didn't take long for more and more racers to start joining us in this venture. Our races have grown to the point of needing more pit space than some facilities have to offer! Luckily, everyone works together to make it all go smoothly. We ended the 2016-2017 season with record entries at our Inaugural 'Central Illinois Slot Series Nats', where 22 racers supplied us with 56 entries over the 4 classes! Records are meant to broke and over the next 2 seasons we have received steady growth in our monthly turnouts producing between 40 & 65 entries over the 4 classes!

We look to continue to break records and have the most fun, competitive slot classes in the Central Illinois area and beyond. We've had racers from Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota travel to join us and look forward to continued growth with amazing support from our racers.

Who We Are

Curt Vincent (pictured left)- I began playing with slot cars in Bloomington, IL. at the age of 3 at what was then known as Slot-Of-Fun. This same establishment we now call Mid-America Raceway and Hobbies - South. Racing has been in my blood since then, from racing on dirt tracks throughout Illinois and then working on a NASCAR K&N team, I still race to win every time we hit the track. Now 28, married, and a graduate of Illinois State University in Recreation Management, my love for slot car racing has never been stronger.

Bobby Yonkee (pictured right)- On my 6th birthday I was taken out of school and brought to Norway raceway where I sat down in my first kid kart. Ever since that day I had fallen in love with racing and the diverse community it brings. Competing through the ranks, I raced road course, dirt, and asphalt oval, With my experience, slot car racing came natural to me in the off-season. As a young slot car racer, I competed in Joliet, Downers Grove, and Machesney Park. Now 23, as a Recreation Management Graduate student at Illinois State University, my experience gives me the opportunity to help promote and drive the slot car community in Central Illinois.

Why CISS?

The goal for Central Illinois Slot Series is to create the most competitive slot car series in the Midwest. Our rules were made to create an even playing field while giving builders the opportunity to fine tune and take pride in their work. In our inaugural season we traveled across the Central Illinois area gaining numbers in local racers at every event. As we continue to grow and expand, we plan to create a schedule impacting the entire Midwest, giving racers diverse tracks, obstacles, and competition.
